Nicolas Monguzzi
Nicolas Monguzzi is a Lausanne-based sound artist, improviser, and drummer with a background spanning rock, jazz, and free improvisation. His practice extends beyond the drum set into a personal sonic research, incorporating gongs, singing bowls and everyday objects and extended techniques—such as the use of a violin bow on diverse materials—to expand his palette of textures and vibrations.
At the core of his work lies an exploration of the threshold between sound and silence, inspired by a yin–yang dynamic that embraces contrast, resonance, and the emergence of noise as a meaningful presence.
Alongside his artistic practice, he works as a sound practitioner trained in the Peter Hess® method, creating immersive experiences with singing bowls, gongs, and resonant percussion. His sound journeys invite deep listening, relaxation, and inner awareness, bridging improvisation and sonic care.
He performs solo and collaborates with the ensemble Sous-Sol and the collective Carovana091, developing projects at the intersection of experimental music and embodied listening.
