Mario Mariotti
A musician committed to the pursuit of a personal musical syncretism between European avant-garde improvisation and African-American jazz language, Mario Mariotti graduated with highest honors from the Conservatorio di Trento and earned a Master of Advanced Studies in Contemporary Music Performance and Interpretation at the Conservatorio di Lugano in the class of Gabriele Cassone. He has collaborated with Contemporary music groups such as Divertimento Ensemble, Sentieri Selvaggi, FontanaMix Bologna, the Biennale Musica Venezia and the renowned jazz ensemble Lydian Sound Orchestra. He has performed at AngelicA | Centro di Ricerca Musicale, Teatro San Leonardo in Bologna, Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione in Parma, Italian Cultural Institute of Toronto in Canada, Turba - Circolo per l'emancipazione culturale - Lugano, Uncool - Artists in residence in Poschiavo, Novara Jazz, NU Arts and Community festival. He steadily collaborates with Gianni Mimmo, Umberto Petrin, Riccardo Luppi, Elia Moretti, and in various projects with Walter Prati, Ricciarda Belgiojoso, Pietro Pirelli, Paolo Botti, Massimo Falascone and Filippo Monico. He leads a quartet consisting of Danilo Gallo, Emiliano Amadori and Marco Zanoli. He has recorded for various labels such as Stradivarius, Amirani Records, a simple lunch, DaVinci, SILTA Records and AMP Music & Records Oslo. He is professor of trumpet and chamber music at Liceo Musicale Zucchi in Monza.
