Hassina SAKHRI
Hassina Sakhri is an artist creating visionary soundscapes that are both healing and contemplative, drawing from intuition and intellect.
Shaped by experiences in diverse cultural settings, her work embodies a blend of form and formlessness. Drawing inspiration from mystical traditions and global healing modalities, her sonic art transcends conventional boundaries. Sound layers are introduced to create rich sonic spaces, emphasizing texture and meaning over linearity. Integrating natural samples, spiritual ritual patterns, choral harmonies, and movement, her narratives emerge and fade, haunting the experience rather than defining it. This process yields soundscapes that are consciously constructed yet open to the possibilities of synchronicity and discovery through improvisation.
Beginning her training as a classical singer at an early age performing with various choirs and small vocal ensembles, she explored various genres, from Gregorian chants to pop, punk, and rock, achieving recording deals internationally, while seeking a more liberatory artistic expression.
Her academic pursuits included studies in electroacoustic music, acousmatic practices, spatialization, and social arts communities. Embracing improvisation, she became a vital member of a collective dedicated to promoting the performance of improvised music, fostering a culture of listening and dialogue.
