Grgur Savic

Grgur Savic (*1983 in Zagreb) is a Croatian-German experimental composer, saxophonist, and curator based in Berlin since 2015. He works with interactivity in music and visual art – particularly in experimental electroacoustic settings – both in live performance and his compositional work – graphic scoring. His creative research focuses on developing contemporary and experimental repertoire based on the basics of extended instrumental techniques and graphic compositions centered on new music technologies and experimental electronics. He leads his main projects – PITCH SHIFTING, Ensemble The FOR: M, Grgur Savic – VORTEX, and SPACE TIGERS BERLIN. He is a curator for “das Ende” experimental music and AV series in Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg, and a board member of the “Richten 25” association for experimental music and art in Berlin, Wedding. Collaborators include Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Music Biennale Zagreb, LPM – Live Performers Meeting, SONIC MATTER PLATFORM, and many others.

Grgur Savic graduated in music academic studies – (BA) in classical Saxophone at the University Of Performing Arts in Graz, Austria (class of Peter Straub and Gerald Preinfalk). He studied jazz improvisation at “KONSE” Kärntner State Conservatory of Music and Theatre in Klagenfurt (class of Michael Erian). Holds a master’s degree (MA) in music composition (research on experimental music and graphic scoring) at the Institute for Creative Arts and Technology in Berlin – CATALYST. He mainly performs and collaborates with other artists, mostly musicians, and new media creatives with a contemporary approach, such as Sanja Star, Richard Scott, Emilio Gordoa, Brad Henkel, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Daniel Craig, Samuel Hall, JD Zazie, Ignaz Schick to name a few. Since 2023 curate “das Ende” experimental music and AV series in Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg together with Richard Scott and Sanja Star, and has been a board member of the “Richten 25” association for experimental music and art in Berlin, Wedding since July 2024.
