Ensemble 50:50 London

The aim is to

• to create something new in a musical sense owned by those present
• to explore the possibilities and limitations of freedom and improvisation in music.
• we will shape the sound with silence,
• we will change the ensemble size: moment by moment.,
• then to empower the musicians with agency, they shape the music through active listening.

The players

will be drawn from the experimental and improvised music scene in London and are familiar names to many as performers in their own right and as regular participants in the London Improvisers Orchestra and Eddie Prevost's Workshop among other vehicles for the promotion of free improvised music.

The ensemble's first session was in London in 2022 during November, by late 2024 the project had moved closer to its aim of creating and delivering monthly session for improvisers and musicians with four session scheduled for September - December 2024. It is hoped that this progress will continue into 2025!
