Mark Solborg

Danish-Argentinian guitarist Mark Solborg (b. 1972) is educated at The Rhythmic Conservatory of Copenhagen, The Royal Danish Academy and New School University (US) and has, since 2000, been active on the European scene as either leader or co-leader of the groups Solborg 4+4+1, Revolver, Mark Solborg Trio feat. Herb Robertson & Evan Parker, Herb Robertson/Mark Solborg Duo, ON DOG, Solborg/Banke Duo, the spatial surround project Omdrejninger feat. Axel Dörner, Maniscalco/Bigoni/Solborg a.o. Recently a comprehensive study on electric guitar in an acoustic context and spatiality: TUNGEMÅL I-III. The versatile improviser and composer cherishes a personal and idiomatic approach to the guitar and has to date produced and released 27 albums with his original music – mostly on the Copenhagen based label ILK, of which he was co-founder. Music for theatre, performative arts and film – including recent live performances to silent movies and investigations of spatial concepts – is also part of the Solborg realm of music. His work as composer and guitarist has been Grammy-nominated, Reumert- awarded, subsidized by the Danish Arts Foundation, and has received significant international recognition. In recent years Mark has toured all over the world, and performed and recorded with the legendary Evan Parker, Herb Robertson, Chris Speed, Susana Santos Silva, Ingar Zach, Marilyn Mazur, Axel Dörner, Paul Lovens, Almut Kühne, Thomas Lehn, Yasuhiro Yoshigaki and many others. www.solborg.dk
