Tommaso Rolando is an unhortodox musician with a non-institutional training, with an extremely personal approach on the contrabass and other instruments, coming from lot of different musical and artistic experiences. He is now director of the music label Torto Editions (www.torto.biz), and his work on improvisation led him to interact with dancers, theatre and visual art. He recently published a duo album with the Canadian viola player Jean René (Ensemble Supermusique, René Lussier), a compact disc with Barre Phillips’ collective and an album with Andy Moor (The Ex, Dog Faced Hermans) on Ken Vandermark’s Catalytic Sound. He plays in TRÓNCO, Orchestra Bailam and Hidden Improvisors Consort.
