Saadia Souyah
Saâdia Souyah, a French choreographer-dancer of Algerian origin, carries out research work around Arab-Berber dances, from traditional dance to the stage. A time cabaret dancer in her early days, since 2000, she offers another look at oriental dance, which she transmits in the professional training she offers to oriental dancers and all interested artists, where she highlights the energy, the spirit that presides over the specific movement of Arab-Berber dances, and where the art of improvisation returns to the forefront. In 2003, she was the first belly dancer invited for a carte blanche at the CND. She is hosted in residence for 6 months at the Cité internationale des arts in 2021-22, and at the CCN de Créteil de Créteil in 2022, for her creation, Je danse ma langue. In 2022 she creates a new concept "Battle of Arabic dance, do the dance", playful and experimental project in direction
of all audiences, in order to inject new energy and stimulate creativity in this dance field.
